About the conference:

Writing a research paper in English, and writing a thesis, in your mother tongue or in a foreign language, is tough work. When the time comes to write it, many PhD students feel left to their own devices. However, writing a research paper and a thesis is much easier if you organise yourself. Then writing a scientific text is above all a matter of organisation.

This conference aims to give you help you through the process of creating a research paper. Its main topics will be:

  • Overcoming writer’s block
  • Elaborating a working strategy
  • Getting started on writing your thesis
  • Structuring your thoughts
  • Highlighting the relevance of your work
  • Main errors to avoid

About the speaker:

Martha Boeglin (Dr. Phil) is author, coach and trainer for scientific writing. She works since 2002 with PhD students from all fields and helps them to write their papers and their thesis in English, French and German. She has been teaching scientific writing in several universities in Germany (Frankfurt, Bonn, Leipzig), France (Paris-Saclay, Lyon, Montpellier), Spain (Barcelona, Sevilla), Serbia (Novi Sad) and Costa Rica (UCR). She also runs a blog for doctoral students: www.scriptoria.org

  • Conferences will be in English and are open to all fields of PhD
  • You can validate 2 hours of “non catalog course” (we will provide you the certificate of attendance, after you can send your demand by the Amethis way “non catalog courses” with this certificate and it will be validated by your doctoral school)

A propos de la conférence :

Rédiger un article en anglais et rédiger une thèse dans votre langue maternelle ou dans une langue étrangère est un travail difficile. Au moment de l’écrire, de nombreux doctorants se sentent abandonnés. Cependant, rédiger un article et une thèse est beaucoup plus facile si vous vous organisez. Écrire un texte scientifique est avant tout une affaire d’organisation.

Cette conférence a pour but de vous aider à rédiger un article scientifique. Les principaux thèmes abordés seront :

  • Surmonter le syndrome de la page blanche
  • Elaborer une stratégie de travail
  • Commencer à rédiger votre thèse
  • Structurer vos idées
  • Souligner la pertinence de votre travail
  • Principales erreurs à éviter

A propos de l’intervenante :

Martha Boeglin (Dr. Phil) est auteure, coach et formatrice en rédaction scientifique. Elle travaille depuis 2002 avec des doctorants de tous les domaines et les aide à rédiger leurs travaux et leur thèse en anglais, français et en allemand. Elle a enseigné l’écriture scientifique dans plusieurs universités en Allemagne (Francfort, Bonn, Leipzig), en France (Paris-Saclay, Lyon, Montpellier), en Espagne (Barcelone, Séville), en Serbie (Novi Sad) et au Costa Rica (UCR). Elle dirige également un blog pour les doctorants : www.scriptoria.org

  • La conférence est ouverte aux doctorantes et doctorants de toutes les disciplines. Elle se déroulera en anglais.
  • Si vous participez, vous pouvez valider 2 heures de formation “hors catalogue” (nous vous fournirons le certificat de participation avec lequel vous pourrez faire votre demande sur Amethis dans la rubrique “formation hors catalogue” et cette formation sera validée par votre école doctorale)
